Protein contains 'Essential Amino Acids', and fat contains 'Essential Fatty Acids'. However, there is nothing essential about carbohydrates.
Stop eating ALL fat, you die. Stop eating ALL protein, you die. Stop eating all carbs, you don't die... but you get abs. Think about it.
